3 WAYS TO IDENTIFY GOOD DESIGN

Anil Valecha

Identifying a good design isn’t as easy as it sounds, it is not just about attractive patterns and artistic looks, it is more about the design being able to stand out from the crowd and to bring a sense of uniqueness to the room.

There are 3 major points to follow in order to recognize a good design:

1- Good Design Appeals to Aesthetics. Only Well-executed Design Looks Beautiful!

A good design is something that calls you, you find yourself fascinated by the beauty of the design, and you just want to admire it all day.

The good visual aesthetics of a design are very important, it positively affects you. For example, two objects can fulfill the same purpose, and have the same exact functionalities. But still, the one with the more appealing design will be perceived as more valuable and having more qualities, even though in reality, they are the same!

2. Good Design Lasts for a Lifetime.

Good design expresses style. Style never goes out of trend; Fashion does!

Remember, what qualifies as good design should not go to waste. It needs to be suitable for now, and for the years to come. Don’t make the mistake of buying a good-looking item without analysing it: Will it still look that great in 1 or 2 years? Or does it suit to this year’s trend only?

Good designers usually look for a way to make the design long-lasting and not easily replaceable, rather than making it fashionable. The famous American filmmaker and graphic designer Gary Hutswit said: “They built those things to last, last a lifetime, and if they did break, they built them to be repaired very easily.”

3. Good Design Goes Through Down to Details.

Good work never leaves it to chance. Nor does it arrive by chance. It’s intentional!

A good designer takes care of the slightest of details of his work. It shows honesty and care towards the costumer. And after all, we humans subconsciously notice everything about an object, and it is the details that make one design better and more appreciated than the other! If you’ve found a designer who works that way, consider yourself lucky.
